level of service not required (LOS/NR)
Co-founded in 2024 in La Jolla, California. C Fodoreanu serves as Art Director. Sixteen exhibitions to date, including solo presentations of Frank Gillette and Michael Roque Collins and institutional partnerships with the American Academy of Pediatrics and Kaiser Permanente.
“As physicians, we have to assign a level of service (LOS) after our visit with the patients for billing purposes. When the level of service is not required — LOS/NR — such as in the case of our gallery, it is out of love.”
“We opened the gallery out of love. We wanted to create a place to extend and multiply our medical practice into artistic knowledge.” — C Fodoreanu, in SVA Visual Arts Journal, Spring/Summer 2026, in a feature on recently opened SVA alumni-owned galleries in California, Georgia, Germany, and Washington. 2025–26Self Portrait — Physician Invitational level of service not required, La Jolla · December 12, 2025 – January 16, 2026 · Curated by C Fodoreanu In collaboration with the Physician Wellness Committee of Kaiser Permanente San Diego. There has been a belief that what the doctor says or does is godly. The care, the advice, the ability a doctor has over their patients is similar to what an above divinity has over its people, with powerful insights into the human body workings, mind and soul reading prowess; there is no need for words, questions or doubts — the almighty has absolute knowledge and wisdom. Other cultures in the world still keep this belief — and some doctors, at times, seem to fadedly cross into the realm of sanctity. Egos swell into bubbles and the perception of self transforms. This show brings this into observation, subtly, from the smallest egos to the ones giant. — C Fodoreanu

2024fall into the bloom (group show) level of service not required, La Jolla · July 18 – August 25, 2024 · Curated by C Fodoreanu As physicians, we do not get to pick our patients, we see whoever falls thru the door. Our first impressions of each other differ greatly, they are asymmetric, unequal, unbalanced. One is tainted by worries, anticipations, expectations, the other one by repetition and routine. We know this and we strive to stay away from bias, suppositions, judgements, prejudice, guilt or preference, since it stands on our shoulders to make this relationship bloom into something healing, life promoting. This show contains eight national blooming artists tackling first impressions — some life changing, some routine, some that last forever, and some vanishing as soon as the door is closed. Each work in this exhibition plays on your perception of the object or its subject matter. Be warned, your first impression might take you away from what it is intended to be seen. — C Fodoreanu

2024room in a room in a room (inaugural group show) level of service not required, La Jolla · June 6 – July 14, 2024 · Curated by C Fodoreanu As physicians we go from room to room to room to see our patients. Between each room we need to take a break, short or not, to reset. We do this because we need to be 100% ready for our next patient. We cannot let whatever we saw, experienced, or heard in the previous room move with us to the next room. At times it is easy to reset, at times is nearly impossible. Slowly, compartmentalizing becomes our second nature. This show contains brilliant San Diego artists and the founders of this gallery, physicians who are also visual artists. Each artist and their work are a room from which to move from, maybe changed, maybe unchanged. Only time will tell. — C Fodoreanu Press: La Jolla Light
